The 2nd Annual Nuclear Swim at Harris Lake presented by The Cabinet Connection of NC is a one mile open water swim race at Harris Lake County Park on August 29, 2010. The swim race will take place at 8:00 am in wave starts (if necessary) from Harris Lake Beach Area.
We are pleased to welcome The Cabinet Connection of NC as the presenting sponsor of the 2010 Nuclear Swim. The Cabinet Connection of NC sells and installs cabinetry as well as provides helpful information regarding remodeling projects, cabinets / cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures and/or any other products that are associated with the industry.
The 680-acre park is situated on a peninsula located on the Shearon Harris Reservoir. Harris Lake County Park is located in New Hill, N.C. – southwestern Wake County – and is convenient to Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina.
A 20 minute Open Water Swim Clinic will start at 7:30 am.
A USAT membership is required to participate in this race. A annual membership is($42.00) or a one day $12 membership. This provides you with additional insurance coverage for each race. You can visit www.usatriathlon.org for more information on memberships.
Sanctioning and insurance:
This event is sanctioned with USA Triathlon. You must be an annual member of 1-day member. One day licenses are available for $12, available during the sign up process.
Age limits
You must be 13 or older to compete.
Wetsuit rules:
Wetsuits will be allowed in accordance with USA Triathlon rules. If the water temperature is 78 degrees or below, wetsuits will be allowed. Between 78-84, wetsuits will be allowed but will not be scored. Over 84 degrees, no wetsuits. No exceptions!
Fees:
Entry fees are $27 until 1 week prior to the event, and $32 thereafter. All swimmers must be a member of USA Triathlon. One day licenses are available for competitors who are not annual members for $12. Sign up through the specific race pages on the left.
Registration:
Please visit the FS Series website to sign up today! We may have a limited number of race day registrations available.
Refunds/Transfers:
50% of your entry fee will be refunded up to 14 days prior to the event. No refunds will be issued for any reason after 14 days. Event entries are not transferable between persons,
events or years. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy. By registering for this event you agree to these refund terms. To request a refund you must complete the refund request form using

WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather the following procedures will be followed:
1. The event will be delayed 45 minutes in hopes the inclement weather will pass.
2. If inclement weather does not pass in 45 minutes, the swim will be cancelled and a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2010 event.
No refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
3. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to event weekend, a 50% credit will be issued for all registered participants into the 2010 event.

Awards:
$100 to the first place man and woman overall. The top three males and females overall will receive distinct overall awards. The top 3 in USA Triathlon age-group categories (5 year increments) will receive awards (no duplication). USAT Wetsuit rules will be in effect.
T-shirts:
Specially designed t-shirts will be given to competitors who sign up 1 week prior. We will do our best to provide t-shirts to everyone who signs up, but if you sign up in the last two weeks we won't guarantee a t-shirt.
Entry limits:
Entries are limited to the 350 participants in 2010.
Rain/Weather dates:
There are no make-up dates. We will only cancel an event if absolutely necessary for the safety of participants.

Why open water?
We are big fans of open water racing and training, and while North Carolina has plenty of triathlons, we don't have a lot of organized open water races. We're changing that!
